SPINAL DECOMPRESSION

PROFESSIONAL SPINEMED SPINAL DECOMPRESSION THERAPY (SYSTEMS)

This unique state-of-the-art technology from SpineMED® , the world’s leader in spinal decompression therapy, helps us reverse the painful and debilitating effects of degenerative disc disease and its presentations that include bulging, ruptured, and sequestrated discs.  It was designed and used by doctors for many years offering a non-invasive, non-surgical option to restore normal function to a damaged spine.  Today the technology is fully computerized, comfortable, and loaded with the latest sensors to tell the onboard computer exactly what is happening to your body during the 30-minute treatment.
The therapy helps regenerate spinal damage with gentle distraction to problematic vertebrae and their discs, so the body can begin the regeneration process.

As a chronic pain therapy clinic, we know from experience that spinal decompression therapy alone will not have favourable results.  We will integrate some of our other world class technologies to ultimately address the causes for your particular case to develop, ensuring a successful outcome.  Other well-known therapies including laser, acupuncture, pain relieving gels, and even stem cell injections offer some pain relief but do not address the causes, so we do not offer these interventions.  We treat causes, not symptoms.

How Does Spinal Damage Occur?

Prolonged abnormal forces exerted on the spine result in the affected discs losing small amounts of water from its internal fibrous interior.  As water is lost, these discs begin to bulge as they shrink in height.  If the abnormal forces are not dealt with, the discs continue to lose water and bulge more to a dangerous point where the strong disc wall comprised of a thick fibrous connective tissue begin to fail and split.  Over time this split becomes a small tear and eventually the fibrous water based gel-like disc interior begins to ooze out.

The resulting inflammation causes pain to the joints of the spine, to nearby muscles, and ultimately to the exiting spinal nerves.  The result is excruciating pain and immobility that even the strongest pain medications cannot help.  This is the extreme result if the abnormal causative forces are not removed from the skeleton.

We offer an innovative, multi-therapy approach to solve spinal disc degeneration and its ensuing arthritis.

How Does Spinal Decompression Work?

We will discuss the other therapies used to address the causes for disc degeneration to develop shortly, but will focus on the actual discs now.

Since it takes pressure and time to cause a disc to lose water, you can assume that it will also take time and pressure to fill it back up again.  This is exactly what spinal decompression is supposed to do, if administered correctly.

Properly executed decompression according to research requires 20-30 sessions administered daily to achieve an optimum outcome.

During each 30-minute session, you are lying on your back on the decompression table fully relaxed with legs bent and supported.  Many people fall asleep during these sessions as the therapy is bringing instant relief to the region, and the treatment room is quiet.

Low back treatments involve a gel-padded metal post placed against the top of your pelvis on both sides and a velcro restraint placed across your abdomen just under the ribcage.  One of the nicest features of this best-in-class SpineMED®  decompression system is that it is not claustrophobic with its restraint system.  SpineMED®  was designed and engineered by doctors who encountered such issues years ago, and kept improving the design to ensure everyone could relax during the sessions, which is crucial.

Another essential feature is with the SpineMED® ’s ability to rotate the pelvis to the exact angle required to decompress a specific disc level.  Your spine is not straight, which is one reason why an inexpensive inversion table will not work.

The neck assembly also has a gel-padded set of metal posts contacting the skull behind the ear, and a simple Velcro strap across your forehead.  You are amazingly comfortable during each 30-minute treatment, which is absolutely essential.

The Decompression

This is the most important aspect for you to fully understand when undergoing spinal decompression.

First, we must remove the damage and extreme tightness from the muscles in the region due to the protection your spinal cord reflex has established to protect your degenerating spine.  If the muscles are not released, the decompression sessions will fail.

Secondly, the SpineMED® decompression system has a computerized bio-feedback sensor system which detects even the slightest tightening of muscles when the therapy begins.  Over the next 30 minutes, the SpineMED® system gently begins applying a gentle pulling force on the disc with a full 60-second slow increasing force.  Then it relaxes this pressure for 30 seconds, before beginning the next 60-second pulling phase.  During the pulling phase, a negative pressure is created within the disc’s interior, slowly drawing essential water back into the disc.  This extremely slow pull is designed to not cause your spinal cord reflex to reflexively tighten the muscles in the region.  A monitor is in position for you to watch this happen.  If any muscular tightness is noted, the pulling force is halted until the muscle relaxes.  If the muscles never relax, the session is terminated and we further treat the muscle damage and tightness with our other technologies before returning to the decompression.

This spinal cord reflex to tighten muscles when the spine is pulled is another reason why inexpensive inversion tables do not work.  When hung upside down, your reflex will tighten the muscles of the spine to actually result in more abnormal forces exerted on the spine, only making the problem worse.

Many people tell us that they have done spinal decompression but it failed to help them.  This is why it failed for them.  The clinics that simply place you on some kind of decompression therapy and not take the other causative factors into consideration will obviously fail to help you.

What Else Is Involved?

Spinal decompression is initiated only after we have determined what went wrong with your skeleton and its muscles to have resulted in damage to your spine.

Our unique diagnostic process involving a thorough skeletal, muscular, and neurological assessment will determine the causes for the devastating abnormal prolonged forces to the spine.

Our other therapeutic technologies include the world’s most powerful magnetic therapy to remove deep-lying inflammation, begin regenerating damaged nerves and speed up the healing process.

Our innovative combining of Trigenics and the world’s most powerful acoustic shockwave therapy are used to release the tight, twisted damaged fibres of the muscles that have placed direct abnormal forces on the spine.

Additional nerve damage regeneration therapy may be required in severe cases in which we then involve our powerful nerve rebuilder technology.

Finally, we may also use our altitude simulator cardiovascular technology to super-saturate your body with oxygen to help eliminate harmful inflammation and deliver essential oxygen to your damaged discs, dramatically speeding up their regeneration.

What Does Spinal Decompression Therapy Cost?

We cannot give you a price now because we do not know what has caused your condition to develop, or what technologies will be required to solve it.  Remember we do not just offer you spinal decompression and hope it will work.  We must first remove the damaging forces from your skeleton and its involved muscles, ensuring the entire process is done correctly.  We are a chronic pain therapy clinic, so know exactly what must be done, and in what sequence of events, to solve your particular case.

You must come in for a thorough diagnostic evaluation to establish whether you are eligible to undergo this extensive process, and whether we feel you would benefit from it.  We will not treat anyone who we feel will not be helped tremendously with our protocol.
